Free Write-Week 2

Tonight I was sitting outside by the fire staring up at the stars when questions began filling my mind. Where did the stars come from? Why did God make them? What is there purpose? Where do they go during the day? Do they move or are they permanently fixated in one spot? How would I describe a star? (bright, magnificent, beautiful, illuminating)? What can you compare a star to? A star as bright as the love in your eyes? A shooting star falling from the heavens appears as falling water cascades over a mountain waterfall. The stars are so beautiful they are almost indescribable. They light the night sky so that lost travelers can find their way. They led the wise men on their journey to Jesus. Stars are a guide, a symbol, a promise, hope, and a reminder.

Great start, Katie! But then again, you've detailed something we've already heard about stars. What can you do to describe them that is unexpected? One poet.. Billy Collins perhaps, describes the crescent moon as his wife's tumor and hits some really unsettling imagery.
